ham
we went to my grandparent’s house for thanksgiving dinner and had no turkey. at all. it was sad. but there was really good ham (and i’m not a big fan of ham).
and being that they live on a farm, my dad suggested we bring the potato cannon along, just in case. i forgot to put teflon tape between the pressure chamber and the valve, so it leaked a bit (not a big deal, just less power) and the compresser couldnt fill it above 95psi. the best shots sent a potato about 200-300 feet, which was awesome. and everybody (even grandma) liked it.
happy thanksgiving to everyone.

battle of the bands
last night i was in mantorville taking pictures of a band who was not competing in the battle of the bands, but they shoulda won anyway. it was at the relay station and the ’special guests’ (aka: not competing) were Runway 36, The Phil Francis Band and Static Empire.
the only band i remember that was competing is Roxbury, who ended up winning the battle (congrats).
the band that should have won (even though they weren’t competing) was Static Empire (www.thestaticempire.com and myspace.com/staticempireband). during the sound check the crowd got so riled up the emcee had to tell them to ‘be cool’ so that 1) the rowdy fans didn’t need to be shown the door and 2) they wouldn’t have to pull the plug on Static Empire. they finished playing (because their time was up) with relatively no incident and a ‘one more’ chant was started, but phil said ‘no way’ and in the middle of an announcement by matt (the singer) for a group fan/band picture the mic mysteriously died.
it was pretty sweet.
