X-AT 0470

tonight the finishing touches were put on a little something we like to call the X-AT 0470 aka: Soda Delivery Boy (SDB).

it is about 7 feet of pure power fueled by over 100 psi.  hurling popcans roughly 250 feet and obliterating potatos are its specialties.  though i have no actual photos (yet) it looks quite similar to the following model:

single number

(175 was just a random number chosen during rendering, the actual insignia reads X-AT 0470 as stated earlier)

actual photos will be avalible soon (maybe).

how the??

so over the past week or so, after checking my e-mail and deleting any new messages, it kept saying i had one unread message, though clearly i had gone through all the messages for that day.  it had never happened before so i figured it was a random glitch or that i somehow got a message somebody sent a while back, but was too lazy to check.

this morning i had a few minutes, so i decided to go back and page through all my saved e-mails to see if the unread message was back there somehow.  lo and behold, a spam message, dated Mon. Feb. 4, 2002.  in the message it talks about ‘this saturday, september 20, 2006.’   messed up, says i.

and how the heck does that happen?

(by the way, appearantly if anybody wants to make some extra cash, buy GDKI stock…)

do you know what a potato gun is?  its a gun that shoots potatos.

do you know where a potato gun is?  its in my trunk.

do you know how to build a potato gun?  i do (along with three partners in destruction).

do you know how amazingly awesome a potato gun is?  it ranks dead even with shooting a pop can through plywood (because thats what it does).

pass the umbrella, please.

when you hear, feel and see the world crashing down around you but are not asked to in some way contribute (either to the crashing or the piecing back together) should you feel spared or left out?

worthington

for the past three days i was in worthington for the MNSCU fine arts festival.  its basically a community college hosting all the other community college’s art-inclined students and faculty to come together and maybe learn something.  minnesota west put together some great workshops.  the two i went to were metal pouring (we made aluminum things).  i was volunteered to do the pouring, meaning about 20 pieces of leather clothing and goggles.  but thats ok because holding ~20 pounds of molten aluminum at the end of a stick is pretty much really cool.

stained glass (the other workshop i attended) wasnt quite as fun, but fun enough.

a bunch of people didnt show up that were signed up so we had a bunch of extra hotel rooms.  i got lucky and had one to myself.  it was a little lonly and pathetic the first night, mainly because i went mostly to get to know the art club people a little better, but thats ok because nobody got mad when i was up till 3:30 gluing toothpicks together.  it was all fun.

but the best part was when this cute girl who was in the metal workshop (then later in the stained glass workshop…) looked at me and said, “hey.” then smiled.  i said “ohmigoshagrl,” peed my pants, farted, threw up in my mouth just a little bit and fell backwards, incidentally into a large garbage can we had just deposited all the toxic waste material we used to make the moulds (its not really THAT toxic the instructor assured me later) then passed out.  she never said “hey” again…  that actually is a lie.  after i came to, she said “hey” in that ‘holy balls, absolutely hilarious’ tone and added “are you alright?”  needless to say i was not as the entire episode repeated, this time with me falling over and hitting the burner to the furnace, knocking that out so it was free to flop around, all the time spewing large amounts of fire ending only because the propane tank feeding the burner exploded, instantly burning up any fuel that would have eventually been sent through the burner.

the fact that i sort of worked for a stripper for three hours still makes me giggle a bit.  (this has nothing to do with the trip to worthington, the people from worthington, the people visiting worthington or any events which transpired between here and worthington, i promise.)

oops.

i guess last night i made it sound like i went to the strip club and was treated poorly…  thats not entirely true.  actually, its the complete opposite of true.  the owners of the strip club (which is in stewartville i guess) had a birthday party for their daughter at Color Me Mine and i had the pleasure (heh) of running that party.

never would i have thought i would say these next words… I am so glad it is sunday night!

i wont tell the story because it would be long, i would use bad words and it frankly makes me want to punch/break/kick/shoot pucks at/chop/[insert any other destructive action] everything, including your dolls, but if you happen to frequent the strip club in byron (i think thats where it is…) stop.  the owners are horrible people.

pretty good week, awesome tuesday…

the week started out ho-hum.  ma and pa sent the kids (sis, bro and i) to open skating with $20, supposedly to spend on skating tickets and some snacks.  well, for my birthday last year, they gave me a 12-time open skate pass, so we used that and spent the $20 on watermellon bon-bons from the foreign candy company which said to allot 5 days to shipping

that was sunday.  monday was a monday (very monday-ish through and through).

tuesday i went to work and teresa (the boss) gave me two tickets to the wild game that night.  i was pumped.  my brother and i drove up there and completely enjoyed an awesome game (row 24!!!  on the 100 level… you know the level that is closest to the ice?   thats the 100 level.  totaly awesome, and thanks again to teresa!).  the wild ended up winning in a shootout 2-1 against the vancouver canucks.

wednesday (yesterday) i was in the ceramics lab from about 3 to about 8:30.  something about that room makes me lose all sense of time…

thursdays are thursdays (though i had to take my chem test before lab today, oh well, i did good) then i took a road trip as part of my internship to help measure a vacant building in austin (which happened to be really freaking creepy with no heat to speak of and no lights except our maglights).  it smelled of urine, and looked about how one would assume a building smelling of urine would look like.  and just now the wild won their 4th game this season, making their record 4-0.  they play again saturday, so watch it.

im going to pull a cleo here and predict how the weekend will turn out…

pretty good.

 and for next week?

really good.  (mon-wed i will be in worthington for the fine arts festival (hence taking my chem and math tests early) and i’m pretty sure that will be awesome and we will get back just in time for MEA, meaning no school for 9 1/2 days (the 1/2 because mod. euro. remember?).  And naturally, back to the slog, monday the 23rd.)

THE TIME HAS COME!!!

At 6 pm, CST (31 minutes from now)  the puck will drop on the first regular season NHL game between the Hurricanes and the Sabres.  thirty minutes later (61 mintues from now) the puck will drop on the second regular season NHL game between the Senators and the Maple Leafs.  Then at 9pm, the third regular season game will begin between the Stars and the Avalanch.

Three kick ass games, too bad there is only enough time to watch two.  If you need to find me, I’ll be 25 feet away drinking in all the excitement.  You should too.
